for Caregivers
Caregivers have often been the impetus for Poetry Out Loud programs in the schools, either through the efforts of individual parents, or the PTA/O.
Poetry Out Loud is open to all New Jersey students grades 9-12 (or the equivalent) in public, charter, parochial, special programs, and home school programs. All competitions begin at the school or community organization level. The minimum requirements to register for a competition are two interested students and a sponsoring teacher or administrator. For the school competition, three judges, an accuracy judge, and a scorekeeper are required. These can be teachers, parents, or members of the community.
We encourage you to contact a teacher or school administrator, or work through your school’s Caregiver-Teacher Organization. Feel free to get in touch with us, as we may be able to help you find a contact at your school or local community organization.
